On day one of the launch of its new chicken sandwich, Atomic Wings donated one sandwich for everyone bought to staff at New York hospitals. Zak Omar, CEO of Atomic Wings, discusses the mission behind the promotion.

Atomic Wings is disrupting the chicken sandwich wars with a new sandwich of its own. But the New York City-based emerging franchise isn’t throwing its hat into the ring just to make a profit — this chicken sandwich has a purpose. Atomic Wings is donating one sandwich to local hard-working hospital workers for every sandwich sold on August 19. All of the brand’s 11 locations will participate in the initiative.

A new Atomic Wings is slated to open in Bellerose next week. The new location is at 250-36 Jericho Turnpike, which was formerly occupied by Tres Chiles Mexican Grill.

Since its start on New York City’s Upper East Side in 1989, this fast-casual brand has focused on providing authentic, Buffalo-style chicken wings and other comfort foods that are free from antibiotics and hormones. The chain recently expanded to Mexico City, and has begun offering online ordering.

Atomic Wings owners Munir Tahir from West Islip and Yamah Omar from Deer Park held the grand opening of the new restaurant on the Nautical Mile on June 22 and celebrated National Chicken Wing Day on July 29.

Atomic Wings is a food chain owned and operated by brothers Zak and Ray Omar whose father started working in fast food after immigrating to the USA.
